Depending on the motorcycle manufacturer, the system may be known as SAS, PAIR or AIS, but each performs a similar function by introducing fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust system to help burn unburned fuel and reduce emissions.

When fitting a full aftermarket exhaust or carrying out ECU and fuelling modifications, the secondary air system can introduce additional oxygen into the exhaust gases. This can cause popping and backfiring on deceleration and can also interfere with accurate air/fuel ratio readings during dyno tuning.

SmartMoto SAS / PAIR / AIS Eliminator Kits are designed to remove or bypass this system cleanly. Depending on the application, kits may include an electronic valve eliminator, CNC-machined block-off plates, airbox caps, plugs and the hardware required to remove the original valve, hoses and associated components.

Removing the secondary air system can provide more accurate AFR readings during motorcycle ECU tuning and dyno mapping, while also reducing unwanted exhaust popping commonly experienced with aftermarket exhaust systems.
